Presso la Facoltà di Ingegneria, nell’ambito del corso di “Telecomunicazioni Satellitari” il giorno 14/11/2011 alle ore 11,30 in aula B9 il Prof. Alessandro Vanelli Coralli terrà un seminario su:
Broadband Interactive Satellite Communications: the second generation of DVB-RCS
E’ richiesta l’iscrizione.
Disponibile presentazione in formato PDF
The Digital Agenda for Europe foresees broadband internet access as a cornerstone in the recovery and development plan for Europe.
Data rates up to 30 Mbit/s for everyone and up to 100 Mbit/s for at least 50% of households in 2020 are the challenging targets set forth by the European Commission in its communication to the European Parliament. In this framework, satellite systems can play a fundamental role in supporting the efficient implementation of the Digital Agenda for Europe providing cost efficient broadband access in those scenarios where terrestrial networks deployment and operations are commercially unattractive. A first step in this direction is the definition of the 2nd generation of the DVB interactive channel via satellite, i.e., DVB-RCS2. The talk discuss the role of SatCom in the achievement of the Digital Agenda objectives and provides an overview of the DVB-RCS-NG system, specifically addressing the waveform design and trade-offs.”

He received the Ph.D. in Electronics and Computer Science from the University of Bologna (Italy) in 1996. From 1996 he is with the University of Bologna where he is currently an Associate Professor. During 2003 and 2005, he was a Visiting Scientist at Qualcomm Inc. (San Diego, CA).
He has been responsible for the standardization proposal of the application of code division multiplexing technique to the DVB-RCS+M (mobile extension of the DVB return channel via satellite) and a proposer for the Continuous Phase Modulation technique for the Next Generation of the DVB-RCS. In 2010, he has led the ESA project “2nd Generation DVB-RCS Standardization Support” aimed at providing technical support to the definition of the 2nd Generation DVB-RCS system. Dr. Vanelli-Coralli is general co-chair of the IEEE Advanced Satellite Multimedia System Conference and the Co-Leader of the R&D group of the Integral SatCom.
He is IEEE Senior Member.
